Opioid Use Disorder: MAT Access
MTSU Center for Health and Human Services is pleased to share details on this much-needed rural health project to address opioid use disorder in six rural Tennessee communities thanks to a grant award made to the Center from the Health Resources and Services Administration’s (HRSA) Rural Communities Opioid Response Program (RCORP). The project is a joint effort between MTSU CHHS and CHHS community partner Cedar Recovery which will be providing direct services.

This project began in September 2023 and has an active presence in Franklin, Giles, Hickman, Lawrence, Marshall, and Claiborne Counties. Please take a look at our CHHS newsletters to learn more about outcomes and updates with the MTSU Cedar Recovery Mobile MAT Project.
In 2026 and in partnership with MTSU’s Public Health program, a survey was conducted in the counties serviced by this project to assess perceptions of opioid use disorder (OUD), stigma, and awareness of services like medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to inform our work. The report is available here.

This project is supported by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as part of a financial assistance award totaling $2,921,726 with 100% funded by HRSA/HHS and $0 amount funded by nongovernment sources.
